Bombay Cats, Exotic Beautiful Kittens

History

There are two types of Bombays...the British Bombay, and is a black cat of the Asian variety, and the American Bombay that was breed in Louisville Kentucky in 1958 by the first Bombay Cat Breeders: Nikki Horner of the Shawnee Cattery crossed an American Shorthair with a Burmese intending on creating a black leopard type coat on the cat. Nikki Horner was successful and the kittens did have the coat coloring of the black Leopard of India. The Bombay cat of course bears the name of the city in India.


Description

The Bombay is a sleek and muscular cat with a great amount of agility. Piercing brown or green eyes resting in a nicely shaped head with a tapering muzzle. The ears are spread wide on the head and of medium sized. They have a silky short coat that comes in the darkest shade of ebony available...through and through right down to his whiskers...black is the new black for this feline.

Temperament

The Bombay loves people and wants to be with them at all times for two reasons...one: they are genuinely affectionate and lovable with their people and two: because they seek the warmth they can glean from us even if it means sleeping under the covers with us. Friendly and social the Bombay will make a wonderful addition to the home. They are far from ordinary in their vocalization and don't really "meow"...some use their voices and others not so much. They have great personalities, and make very enjoyable companions.
